Preston Reed, the man Total Guitar said is “Widely thought of as the world’s most gifted guitarist” performing LIVE on a Hangout On Air!

Preston Reed (in case you didn’t know) has virtually reinvented how the acoustic guitar is played. He practices a flamboyant self-invented style, characterized by percussive techniques with simultaneous rhythm and melody lines that dance and ricochet around each other, giving his music a level of excitement that is unparalleled among today’s guitarists.

Someone needs to blue box Preston please!

  • Peter

My last name is Keats, and I have often thought about seeing if I could put some of the John Keats poems to music. Is there any writer or general literature that Preston has considered writing in a music form?

Hi Preston your awesome and so is this set-up! I can’t wait to see you at the RNCM in september, and I have one question- you once recorded a song on the original ladies night CD called “one day”, and I was wondering who the lovely voice on that song belonged to? :)

Saw you in Cardiff a few months back, and just wanted to say this – I’ve been playing acoustic for about 6 years, but your show pretty much got me started actually writing. Now I almost have a whole album’s worth of fingerstyle acoustic stuff, so… thanks man :)

  • Lukas Jury

I feel like I should be paying good money to watch this! Finally I can see you live. How do you get on the cam so I can clap and woop?

Also has Ladie’s Night been played?

    • HangCaster

Lady’s Night was the first song played, and if you’re on Google Plus, send us your profile link, and we’ll see what we can do!

also how come the scratch guards are placed where they are? Is it for percussion, or because you damaged the body?

    • HangCaster

They are there for when Preston uses a pick for percussion :)

  • Frank Creed

Thank you for such wonderful music!

  • HangCaster

    Thank you everyone for watching!

  • Daragh McMahon

Thank you so much for that. Preston was awe-inspiring as always… I have been lucky enough to have seen him play several times here in Ireland, and he has always been so friendly and approachable, and there is noone else who can play like that. My kids have some CDs signed by Preston, but this was their first experience seeing how those sounds are produced – they were duly impressed! Hope to see more of the same in the future…

  • Brian Pook

Hi Preston, I’ve seen you live a couple of times at the Mick Jagger Centre Dartford before I moved to Birmingham. Love your playing and ethos. I missed the live broadcast last night and am listening this morning. Great idea that illustrates your commitment to music not money !
Sound quality could be better – maybe it was better live.
    Keep up the good work.
    Brian
